GARDEN DESIGN

Garden 1, Downham Market, Norfolk

The owners of this property located at Downham Market requested a garden that was easily maintained and provided year round interest. The garden was designed to have two character areas dividing the space to make it appear much larger than it was. One half was designed as a gravel garden, with stepping stones leading to a secret gazebo, which provided glimpsed views across the garden. The other was a cottage garden, full of shrubs and herbaceous plants providing a mass of colour, using species tolerant of dry soil conditions.

Our clients have since moved house and commented to ELD that, ‘the carefully designed garden provided an instant selling point, resulting in their house being valued over an above adjacent, similar properties. Offers were made by all parties that viewed the property, resulting in a quick sale, to a higher value than expected.’

Even in a small garden, different character areas can be achieved with tailored views and structured planting.
