GARDEN DESIGN
Soham, Cambridgeshire
This small garden in Soham was typical of new developments. Entering the garden from the rear French windows, the space was laid to grass from one end to the other with low timber board fences dividing gardens.
This space was transformed from a bare lawn, as illusutrated in the ‘before’ images (right), to a contemporary garden that included a decked extension to the living space with tree ferns located within the deck and a bamboo wall around the deck; a small lawn bordered with upright trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants; an open and covered terrace with timber pergola; a trellis covered shed and covered storage space.
The client built the garden himself using ELD plans and even in the early days after
completion, the ‘after’ images show how the garden was transformed into a number of external rooms and spaces.
